Some of the group attended The National Humanities Conference in Los Angeles, others met Cherokee descendents who told stories of events of the Trail of Tears, and others interviewed local citizens to learn about the past in Putnam County. Powerful learning opportunities for all.

This is Season 2 Episode 11- Putnam Teacher Development Program.
Thanks for joining us as Superintendent Arena talks with Dr. Fernando Aker and Ms Renee Burgdorf as well as former students on their way to becoming teachers in Putnam County Charter Schools - Jared Coronado, Ravi Hudson, and Carmen Harden. The program began in 2018 and is focused on reaching out to graduates of Putnam County Schools and seeking to give them a chance to return to their alma mater as teachers.
Mr. Arena, Dr. Aker, and Ms. Burgdorf share their memories of the design and implementation of the program and the former students share their tales of working with kids, peers who once were their teachers, and learning how to teach.
